Veteran Actress Nanda Passes Away At 75

Yesteryear actress Nanda passed away at her residence in Versova, Mumbai on Tuesday morning, following a massive heart attack. She was 75.

Nanda was born to Marathi actor-director Vinayak Damodar Karnataki (Master Vinayak) on January 8, 1939. Her father passed away when she was just 8-years-old and she then started working as a child artiste to support her family. Nanda’s uncle V. Shantaram gave the actress her first big break by casting her in his successful brother-sister saga Toofan Aur Diya.

She is known for her performances in films like Chhoti Bahen, Hum Dono, Kanoon, Gumnaam and Aanchal, to name a few. She was last seen on-screen in 1983 release Prem Rog, in which she essayed the role of Padmini Kolhapure’s mother.
