Guru Randhawa made us groove to the peppy beats of High Rated Gabru in 2017 and now, T-series has come up with a revamped version of the chartbuster and has destroyed the song forever for us.
The song has been recreated for Remo D’Souza’s upcoming film Nawabzaade and the glossy new version features the film’s lead pair- Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor along with Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak and Dharmesh Yelande. The set is grand, but nothing new as songs like Dhoom Machale, Kamli etc too have been shot in similar setting. The lyrics have been changed, which has made the song lose its essence. Shraddha despite the flashy garments looks completely lackluster and her expressionless face further spoils it for us. She seems totally disinterested in whatever she is doing. The saving grace has to be Varun Dhawan, who has danced like a dream. Raghav, Punit and Dharmesh are superb dancers but they just seem like forced add-ons. The only person I want to see in a Guru Randhawa song is Guru himself. PERIOD.The original number has crossed 400 million views on YouTube and that itself is a testimony of its popularity. Yours truly being a fan of the hit track is very disappointed with the latest version.
