Vaani Kapoor on Mythological Undertones of Mandala Murders:

Vaani Kapoor is stepping into uncharted territory with her upcoming crime thriller Mandala Murders, where she plays a layered and emotionally complex police officer, Ria Thomas. The series promises more than just suspense—it weaves in a thought-provoking exploration of belief, mythology, and personal truth. In an exclusive conversation with Movie Talkies, Vaani spoke about her character and mythological touch to the story.

While speaking about her character, Vaani revealed what made Ria stand out for her. "She has a personal life—she's battling her own demons, her own inner conflicts. She's not just strong; she’s vulnerable, and not in a way that shows weakness. Her vulnerability comes from owning her truth, and that's powerful. It's rare to see characters that balance both strength and vulnerability in a meaningful way," she shared.

"I hope so. As human beings, we’re all different, and I hope that reflects in Ria Thomas (her character name) too. It’s up to the audience now. They'll watch and decide whether I’ve brought something unique to the character," she replied when asked about her own personal additions to the character.

But what truly sets Mandala Murders apart is its thematic core. The show dives into the nature of faith and mythological beliefs—how it empowers and, at times, misleads. "I am personally very intrigued by the idea of faith. I respect all religions and beliefs. Nothing in the show disrespects anyone’s faith—it's all handled thoughtfully,” said Vaani. "But it does leave you with questions—like, how far would you go in the name of belief? Faith can be empowering, but it can also become a blind spot. What are the consequences of holding on too tightly to something?"
