Tragedy On Kantara Chapter 1 Sets:

Filming for Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated sequel-prequel, Kantara Chapter 1, came to an unexpected halt after a tragic incident on set. MF Kapil, a junior artiste from Kerala, lost his life after drowning in the Souparnika River in Kollur on Tuesday afternoon. He had reportedly entered the water for a swim during the crew’s lunch break and was swept away by a strong current.

Rescue teams, including the fire department and local officials, launched a swift operation to locate him. His body was discovered later in the evening. Police at the Kollur station have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The mishap has deeply affected the production team and brought filming to a standstill.

Directed and written by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 pan-India blockbuster film Kantara. The film is set during the reign of the Kadambas of Banavasi. It stars Rishab Shetty and Jayaram in leading roles, alongside Kishore, Jayasuriya, and Jisshu Sengupta. It is scheduled for release on October 2, 2025. The film is currently in production and will soon be wrapped up. According to the last update, the team has been shooting the grand action sequence for the film's climax.
