Top Opening weekends in Spy Universe:
The YRF Spy Universe has delivered some of the biggest opening weekends in Bollywood history, with every film in the franchise drawing strong numbers. Among them, the latest release War 2 has taken the fourth spot with an opening weekend of around 98 crore nett. While the number looks decent, the film has recorded the lowest footfalls in the franchise so far.
Leading the list is Pathaan (2023), starring Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, which opened to a massive 160 crore nett in its first three days. The film not only brought the Spy Universe into the record breaking zone but also set a benchmark for Hindi film openings. At second place is Tiger 3 (2023) with 138.5 crore nett, continuing the popularity of Salman Khan’s Tiger character, but this was an underwhelming total.

Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) sits at number three with 114.9 crore nett. Though its weekend number is lower compared to the newer films, it still holds the record for the highest footfalls in the franchise, reflecting its strong audience pull at that time.
After War 2 at number four, comes War (2019) with 92.81 crore nett, a Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer that had created a big buzz upon release. At the sixth spot is the film that started it all, Ek Tha Tiger (2012), with 56 crore nett, which was the first film in the spy universe. The next offering from this universe is Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol. It won't hit record numbers but can do a decent business for a beginner.
