"...and they lived happily ever after" - this is how as kids our fairy tales used to end with.
Who can forget the epic scene from Titanic in which Jack tells Rose to "never let go" ? It ensured a lump in every throat at the very least if not a tear in the eye.
Time and again, there have been intense debates amongst the film's fans with many feeling that Jack's character could have been saved. Fans felt that instead of letting Jack freeze to death in the ocean, the couple could have floated together on the door that Rose floats on.
The film's leading lady Kate Winslet aka Rose recently just kind of reiterated the fan's viewpoints. In a recent interview on the show Jimmy Kimmel Live, Winslet discussed the iconic scene. Kate apparently expressed that she agreed to the fan's viewpoints and articulated that Jack and Rosed could have actually fitted on that bit of door.
Earlier on in 2012, director James Cameron had addressed this point of contention and expressed that when the character of Jack put Rose on the raft, he figures out that there was really only enough buoyancy available for one person, so he makes the decision to let her be that person. Hence justifying the film's tragic end.
It would have been interesting if the character of Jack brilliantly essayed by Leonardo DiCaprio would have been allowed to live in the film - would have definitely ensured a smile on every fan's face.
