Another week gone by and there has been no onslaught on the box office as yet. Last week's releases, E Niwas' De Taali, Pahlaj Nihalani's Khushboo and Kumar Mangat's Haal e Dil did nothing for the public's dil, and the weekend saw dismal collections.
Despite the build up around Niwas's De Taali and its star cast, the film, a comedy, apparently was not funny enough. The verdict was believed to be out after a couple of shoes itself. De Taali opened with collection ranging between 30 and 40 per cent. Kumar Magat's Haal e Dil did dismal business ranging between 10 and 15 per cent, while Khushboo just about managed ten per cent and less. Of the three releases, De Taali is the only one which is likely to continue with its present showing. The collections for the other two films are likely to show a further dip as days go by.
Contrary to predictions, Sarkar Raj continues to sail through the box office in its second week. Summer 2007 remains a non starter. There is good news for the box office next week with three interesting releases lined up. The first of these is Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic starring Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan. The other two are Thoda Life Thoda Magic and Via Darjeeling.
