A lot was expected from 8x10 Tasveer, the solo release of last week. This Nagesh Kuknoor movie had action hero Akshay Kumar in the lead and hence it was quite justifiable. But unfortunately, the film seems to be going more the Chandni Chowk To China way.
The film had a very sluggish opening at the box office with collections touching only 30 to 40 per cent in most theatres, single and multiplexes included. Its collections failed to pick up even during the weekend and hence, there is hardly any ray of hope here for the prospects of this movie. In fact, what has really found takers has been the Marathi film, Mee Shivaji Raaje Boltoy, made by Mahesh Manjrekar, who also stars in it. The film has reportedly got off to a roaring start with collections touching 90 per cent. As for last week's releases, Ek The Power Of One and Aa Dekhen Zara are struggling to survive while Deepa Mehta's Videsh Heaven On Earth has sunk. Till the fracas between multiplex owners and the producers' body is not resolved, there is really no film to look forward to next week.
