Universal Pictures' The Super Mario Bros. Movie is off to a record-breaking start at the global box office. The video game adaptation registered the highest opening debut for any animated feature film in the extended opening weekend. With $377 million, the movie now holds the record for the biggest global debut ever for an animated film. In domestic markets, Super Mario had the biggest 5-day opening ever with $204 million in its kitty. That's also the biggest opening ever for a video game adaptation and the biggest Hollywood movie opening of 2023 so far.
