The Sabarmati Report Box Office Collections:

Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra's The Sabarmati Report opened in cinemas on Fridays and met with an average response from critics and audiences. It wasn't any front-loaded film, so it was expected to open low and leave it on the audiences, hoping that the word of mouth will take it forward.

The Sabarmati Report opened on limited screens amidst competition from Bollywood films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again and a Hollywood film Gladiator 2, and collected Rs. 1.30 crore nett on Friday. This marks the biggest solo film opening day for the lead actor Vikrant Masey. The gross figures for day one stand at Rs. 1.55 crore in India. The film is unlikely to bring any respectable numbers from overseas, so the worldwide figures will hardly matter.

Last year, around the same time, Vikrant's 12th Fail had opened with Rs. 1 crore nett, but that film had better merits and went on to become a sleeper hit with a good hold in a lifelong run. With The Sabarmati Report, it seems difficult since the content has a very limited appeal and is too intense for regular moviegoers. Let's see how the film performs on the second day, as the usual trend for Bollywood movies always indicates a good jump on Saturday.

The Sabarmati Report

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures and A Vikir Films Production and stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra in the lead roles. The film is distributed by Zee Studios.
