The Kashmir Files & RRR Defeated By A Gujarati Film Chhello Show For India's Official Entry To The Oscars

The Indian juries have elected Gujarati film "Chello Show" as the official entry for the Academy Awards 2023. There has been a lot of buzz around India's Oscar selection, and Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" and SS Rajamouli's "RRR" were among the top contenders. But Pan Nalin's Chhello Show defeated the box office hits to get selected by the juries for the Best International Feature category.

Chhello Show (called "Last Film Show" in English) is a Gujarati coming-of-age drama. The film stars Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta in the lead roles. Chello Show tells the story of Samay, a 9-year-old boy who is drawn to movies and reels but faces a difficult future while dealing with other issues in his life.
