The Delhi High Court Gives Protection To The Misuse Of Amitabh Bachchan's Name, Voice & Image -

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan filed a suit in the Delhi court and sought protection for the use of his name, voice, and image. Lawyer Harish Salwe appeared for him before Judge Navin Chawla in court. The Delhi High Court ruled in favour of Bachchan's suit, granting legal protection to his name, voice, and image.

The court said, "It cannot be disputed that the plaintiff is a well-known personality and is also represented in various advertisements. The plaintiff is aggrieved by the defendants using his celebrity status to promote their own goods and services without his permission or authorisation. Having considered the plaint, I am of the opinion that a prima facie case is made out."

The court also stated that a big celebrity personality like Amitabh Bachchan might suffer grave harm, and some activities may even bring him disrepute, if the order is not passed. The Delhi High Court issued directions to the authorities and telecom service providers to remove the content that includes Amitabh Bachchan's personality rights.
