The Conjuring Last Rites Baaghi 4 The Bengal Files
The Conjuring Last Rites Box Office Update:
Hollywood’s latest horror powerhouse The Conjuring Last Rites has opened to a terrific response in India, easily surpassing its Bollywood competition in advance ticket sales. The film sold nearly 2.3 lakh tickets ahead of release, a number that puts it far ahead of Hindi releases Baaghi 4 and The Bengal Files.
In comparison, Baaghi 4 managed around 1.55 lakh tickets, that too with heavy discounts and offers, while The Bengal Files struggled with a weak count of only about 10,000 tickets. The difference is striking and shows once again how Hollywood franchises are pulling Indian audiences in larger numbers, even on crowded release weekends.
Trade analysts suggest that The Conjuring Last Rites will open stronger than both Bollywood titles combined on its first day. This continues a recent trend where Hollywood films managed to dominate the Indian box office in competition from local films.

What makes this performance more impressive is the genre itself. Horror is usually considered niche, but The Conjuring franchise enjoys massive popularity in India. Its loyal fanbase, combined with solid word-of-mouth buzz, has ensured that advance sales are far ahead of expectations. The Conjuring 2 had done used business of around 65 crore nett in 2016. This fourth film is going to cross that number easily.
For Bollywood, this Friday has once again underlined the growing challenge of competing with global franchises. Despite Baaghi 4 coming from a well-known action series, it could not match the excitement generated by Hollywood’s latest horror offering.
