Ajay Devgn and Indra Kumar have given us two well-known and loved comedies, Ishq and Masti. The duo later made a Total Dhamaal, which hardly had any sensible Dhamaal moments. Now, they are back with Thank God, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet. Watch the trailer below:
Thank God's trailer shows you again why the standard of comedy films is going down day by day in Bollywood. The last comedy with high repeat value was made in 2008, and since then we have been lacking good comedies. Thank God adds another piece of coin in the wallet. Those days of comedies like Garam Masala, Bhaagam Bhaag, Phir Hera Pheri, Dhamaal and Welcome are being missed by miles. The trailer has some good moments, but most of the comedy scenes look dry. The visuals are bad and so is the humour. The gunshot and blood look like a scene from a "B-grade" film. Ajay Devgn has so much potential for comedy, but except for his modern look, nothing works. Sidharth Malhotra is yet to understand the comedy genre, while Rakul Preet hardly appears to be called a pivotal character (which she is actually in the film).
Thank God is directed by Indra Kumar and is said to be inspired by some films. Some are calling it a remake of the Tamil flick Vinodhaya Siddham, while some are calling it an adoption of Oh My Kaduvale. Well, we'll know the answer once the film releases, but looking at the trailer, we know that it isn't anything new. We have seen this Yamdut, Chitragupt and the resurrection of life things before in Bollywood and the South.
