A superstar known equally well for his flair for comedy, action roles and intense performances, Ajay Devgn celebrated a working birthday with his team on the sets of Son of Sardar in Patiala.
Born to veteran stunt choreographer Veeru Devgn, Ajay made his Bollywood debut with Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. Devgn's stunt mastery and his screen entry (balancing on two speeding motorcycles) immediately grabbed attention and Ajay went on to bag the Best Male Debut Award that year.
Following this, Devgn mostly appeared as an action and romantic hero in most of his films till his intense and sensitive performance in the 1999 Mahesh Bhatt film Zakhm won him a National Award and proved beyond doubt that Devgn was one of the finest actors of his generation. This was once again proved with his portrayal of the sacrificing husband Vanraj in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, where he played a husband, who helps his wife re-unite with her lover, played by Salman Khan.
In 2002, Devgn played the role of the cold and calculating underworld don Malik in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster drama Company, which proved to be another major success, bagging the actor several awards for his performance. Devgn also played the role of martyr Bhagat Singh in the Rajkumar Santoshi helmed The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, which once again earned him rave reviews and earned him another National Award.
Devgn has gone to star in several films like Khakee, Yuva, Omkara, Gangaajal, Apaharan, Raincoat, Raajneeti, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and the laugh riot Golmaal series, to name a few. Though many of these films had other A-list stars in it, Devgn stood out amongst all and carved a niche for himself as a solid actor. Devgn's recent major hit was Singham, where he played the role of upright police officer Bajirao Singham and though the film was a remake of a South flick, the movie was a major hit because of its action scenes and Devgn's screen presence. The film grossed over 100 crores in India, making it the 7th film to do so.
Devgn will be next seen in Tezz, a racy thriller, Son Of Sardar, which Devgn is producing and where he will play a Sikh and the Rohit Shetty directed Bol Bachchan, where he plays a rustic pehelwaan.
On the personal front, Ajay Devgn is married to actress Kajol, with whom he starred in many films and the couple have a daughter, Nysa, and son named Yug.
On the occasion of his birthday, here's wishing the immensely talented superstar a prosperous and successful life.
