Sushant Singh Rajput Signed Up For Shekhar Kapur's 'Paani'

After much speculations about which actor would be signed up for Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project Paani, it has now been confirmed that Sushant Singh Rajput, who made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che!, will be playing the lead in the film.

Confirming the news, Shekhar Kapur said, “Sushant is one of the most inspiring young actors to emerge out of India. It's going to be an exciting director-actor collaboration with him on Paani.” Sources from YRF, which is producing the film, claim that the film is based in a future world where wars over water have broken out and International Corporations, who use thirst as a weapon, control the supply of water. In such a scenanio, a young love story breaks all the rules and threatens the existing power structure. The film will star Indian as well as Western actors and Sushant will reportedly be paired opposite a leading actress from the West.

Paani will have music by 'The Mozart Of Madras' A.R. Rahman and the film is slated to go on floors in mid-2014.
