publive-imageDanish filmmaker Susanne Bier could be the first woman to direct a James Bond film after she reportedly featured on the list of handful filmmakers being considered for the next 007 flick.

Susanne is best known for her Danish thriller-drama film In a Better World, which won the Academy Award for the best foreign language film in 2011 and her television miniseries The Night Manager.

The miniseries stars actor Tom Hiddleston, who is hired by MI5 to take down an illegal arms dealer. Incidentally, Hiddleston is a frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig as the British spy in the forthcoming Bond movies.

Over the past few weeks many actresses including Gillian Anderson, Emilia Clarke and Priyanka Chopra have expressed interest in playing Bond and there is a campaign calling for the British secret service agent to be played by a woman and renamed Jane Bond.

Well, a woman taking on the role of a 007 agent seems unlikely at the moment, but a woman director helming the next bond movie cannot be ruled out.
