Sunny Deol To Get A Solo Hanuman Film:
Sunny Deol, who is already set to portray Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana, may soon headline a standalone film centred on the revered deity. According to a report by Midday, producer Namit Malhotra is fast-tracking a Hanuman-focused project envisioned as a key pillar of his larger Ramayana Universe, also being referred to as the R-Verse.

Sources suggest the upcoming film is internally being described as a “mythological-pop opera with thunderous action,” marking it as the second major instalment in the interconnected franchise. The idea reportedly took shape during the early writing stages of Ramayana, where Hanuman’s sequences stood out for their scale and emotional power. The creative team soon felt the character deserved a dedicated cinematic platform of his own.

“From the moment they developed Hanuman’s arc in Ramayana, it became clear that the character needed a solo stage,” a source close to the project told Midday. “Sunny paaji’s name kept surfacing because of his screen presence, physicality, and the fact that he is already part of the original film.”
Insiders reveal that the proposed film aims to blend mythology with music and spectacle. The narrative is expected to feature high-energy action set pieces, aerial combat sequences, stylised flaming-torch choreography, and a massive 12-minute musical number described as a battle hymn. Music will play a central role, elevating the storytelling into a larger-than-life operatic experience.

The long-term plan, sources add, is to build an Avengers-style interconnected universe with recurring characters and crossover storylines. Within this framework, Hanuman is being positioned as the franchise’s powerhouse figure — “their Hulk,” as one insider put it — invincible, iconic, and designed for grand-scale cinema. If all goes as planned, the film could go on floors by late next year. Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol is set to be released on Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027.
