Jaat hit by Kesari 2:
Jaat had a decent opening week at the box office, and the challenge was always to face Kesari 2 in the second week. It seems that the fear is coming true, as the Sunny Deol-starrer is hit by Akshay Kumar's courtroom drama, Kesari 2.

Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, had decent extended first-week collections of Rs. 59 crore nett. The film held reasonably well against Kesari Chapter 2 on its second Friday, since it's an action film, and the latter targets multiplex audiences. However, the Saturday numbers for the mass-action drama saw a slight dip in collections compared to the second Friday figures. On the other hand, Kesari 2 saw an increase of 30% on Saturday.

Jaat box office collections:
Jaat collected approx. 3.75 crore nett on its second Friday, while the second Saturday numbers fell to 3.30–3.40 crore nett. This isn't unexpected, but Kesari 2 is a new release and is likely to attract audiences in multiplexes. This certainly makes the path more challenging for Jaat to emerge as a hit due to the high costs involved. Nonetheless, it is likely to be an "average" affair, which is reasonable considering the kind of down phase Bollywood is experiencing this year, with only Chhaava becoming a major hit.
