Sunny Deol had lost his chance to enter the UP-Bihar cow-belt, what with his Banaras based Mohalla Assi being stuck in the cans for over a year. However he is now all set to enter the virgin territory with Singh Sahib the Great.
"He has beaten enough of Pakistanis, Punjabis, Mumbai taporis and rowdies; now it is time for him to take on the bad elements from UP and Bihar", says a source connected to the film, "This is going to be a first for him where he would be seen in an action drama based in the cow-belt of India. Though he would be playing his age, there would be quite a few action scenes that would be set in a crowd pleasing tone."
In the film, Sunny Deol plays the part of a Collector who is posted in the UP-Bihar belt. On realising that mafia has a stranglehold of affairs in this part of the country, hence resulting in wide spread corruption and loss of lakhs of crores for the Government, he gets into action.
"How he takes the mafia hands-on, pun intended, is what forms the crux of the film", the source continues, "And yes, needless to say, Sunny paaji would be playing a Sardar in the film."
On contacted, Anil Sharma confirmed the news. He said, "I feel that UP-Bihar has a lot of mafia stories waiting to be told. Moreover it's a first for Sunny to step into this land. From Punjab to UP, it is going to be quite a journey for us."
The film goes on floors this November.
