Speaking about the making of the film, Raghavan strongly emphasized authenticity. “Everything you see in the film is real,” he stated, adding that the ranks, battle sequences and emotional intensity have been captured without the use of CGI. According to the filmmaker, the team made a conscious effort to keep the narrative as grounded and truthful as possible. “We have stayed as close to reality as we could. Only the dialogues were slightly altered to suit cinematic treatment,” he explained.

Ikkis marks Raghavan’s first foray into the war genre, and the director appeared visibly excited about venturing into unfamiliar territory. He revealed that the story was written several years ago, but at the time, he hadn’t planned to direct it himself. “I had written the script, but there was no director attached to it,” he shared. It was producer Dinesh Vijan who later approached him and asked if he would like to take on the director’s chair, to which Raghavan agreed.

Elaborating further, Raghavan said he wanted to break away from being boxed into a particular genre. Known primarily for his thrillers, he felt drawn to this story because of its emotional depth and historical significance. “People expect thrillers from me, and I will continue to make them. But I also wanted to tell the story of an unsung hero,” he said.
The final trailer of Ikkis was released today. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film stars Agastya Nanda, Simar Bhatia and Dharmendra, and is slated for a theatrical release on January 1, 2026.
