Anurag Kashyap the director of Bombay Velvet is planning to hold a special screening of the film for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The film was shot at Ranminithenna Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele Cinema Park. Bombay Velvet also happens to be the first foreign film to be shot there.

The set of the film was painstakingly recreated in Sri Lanka as they had to recreate Mumbai of the 1950’s and 60’s. The film, which is based on the book Mumbai Fables by Gyan Prakash is an ode to Mumbai before it became a metropolitan city. Anurag felt that building sets in Mumbai would have been very expensive and that’s why he chose to shoot the film in Sri Lanka.

Bombay Velvet was allotted a four-acre plot of land for the duration of the shoot. Now, as a thank you gesture, Anurag and his team are preparing to host a screening of the film in Sri Lanka. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, the movie will release on 28th November.
