publive-imageBollywood singer Sonu Nigam was attacked last night at a concert in Chembur. Uddhav Thackeray's Shivsena MLA, Prakash Phaterpekar's son, and his colleagues beat Sonu Nigam for denying selfies. Sonu was saved by his bodyguard, while his brother was injured and taken to the hospital. Watch our video below:

"After the concert, I was coming down from the stage when a man named Swapnil Prakash Phaterpekar held me. Then he pushed Hari and Rabbani, who came to save me. Then I fell on some steps. I filed a complaint so that people should think about forcefully taking selfies and causing scuffles," Sonu Nigam told the media.

Hemrajsingh Rajput, DCP of Zone 6, confirmed the identity of the accused, saying, "After the live concert, Sonu Nigam was coming down from the stage when a man held him. After objections, he pushed Sonu Nigam and two other men with him from the steps, and one of those two men sustained injuries. The accused's name is Swapnil Phaterpekar."

The DCP added, "As per the interaction with Sonu Nigam, the incident didn't seem to be intentional; it was done by a single person. The volunteers then controlled the situation. Only one name is in the FIR. It's just a case where the singer was held by the accused, maybe due to the intention of taking a photo."
