For Sohum Shah, putting together the film, Ship Of Theseus, directed by Anand Gandhi, has been an uphill task. The debutante producer-actor will also turn distributor for the film, which has garnered accolades at various national and international film festivals.
The filmmaker was recently quoted saying that he had to produce it because no one else would and that their plan is to release it in January 2013, but if nobody distributes it, he will do it on his own.
He added that it is not easy to make a philosophically heavy film that is accessible, engaging and moving, and that for a product like this, one needs to find newer ways of tapping the audience, rather than depending on the conventional methods of distribution.
Sohum, meanwhile, is very happy with the response the film has garnered on social networking websites and at the recently-concluded film festivals in Goa and Mumbai.
Shekhar Kapur,
Shyam Benegal and
Anurag Kashyap have been very kind and supporting towards his film, Shah concluded.
