Huma Qureshi’s latest release Single Salma is turning out to be one of the weakest performers of the year at the box office. Despite featuring known faces like Sunny Singh and Shreyas Talpade, the film failed to make any impression either with audiences or critics. It opened to poor occupancy across theatres, collecting only around ₹15 lakh during its opening weekend — a shockingly low number for a mainstream Hindi film.

The situation worsened during the weekdays, with the film struggling to even cross the ₹1 lakh mark per day. As a result, Single Salma managed just around ₹20 lakh in its first week, and its lifetime total is now expected to finish below ₹25 lakh. These figures make it a huge commercial disaster, especially given that the film released in over 400 screens across India, which was low anyway.

Trade experts believe that the film’s failure stems from multiple factors — lack of buzz, weak promotional campaigns, and poor word of mouth. The trailer and songs failed to generate curiosity, and the film’s niche theme didn’t appeal to family audiences. Moreover, critics called it a dull and confused attempt at social comedy, which further damaged its prospects.

With several releases lined up this week, Single Salma is unlikely to recover. For Huma Qureshi, who has been appreciated for her work in the Maharani web series, this film’s box office performance is a clear reminder that star power alone can’t save a poorly marketed and poorly received film. Huma has Maharani Season 4 releasing today and then Delhi Crime Season 3 next week. She would definitely prefer to forget Single Salma's debacle ahead of these two projects.
