Veteran actor Jayant Sawarkar, known for his works on the Marathi stage, in movies, and in Bollywood, passed away today. He was hospitalised due to a prolonged illness and took his last breath on the Hospital bed on Monday morning.
Jayant Sawarkar was born on May 3, 1936, in Guhagar. He started working as a junior artist in 1955 and then joined the Marathi stage and movie worlds. He acted in over 100 stage plays and 50 movies in the span of five decades.
Jayant Sawarkar also acted in plenty of Hindi movies. He was seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham, among 30 other movies. He was awarded the Natwarya Prabhakar Panshikar lifetime achievement award by the government of Maharashtra in the field of theatre. We at movie talkies offer our prayers for his soul.
