She's worked with the very best in the industry including two of the finest women directors in B'Town. Shifaali Shah who has previously been directed in Monsoon Wedding and 15 Park Avenue by Mira Nair and Aparna Sen respectively now stars in Barnali Ray Shukla's Kucch Luv Jaisa. The actress admits that the experience of being directed by a fellow female is certainly unique and lauds lady filmmakers for their "sensitivity".
Shifaali says, "Working with women directors is definitely different. Though it might be unfair to say it, they have an insight which a man might probably overlook. There's a much deeper sensitivity. There are layers which they're ready to unearth."
She also feels that the difference stems from the fact that both sexes have very distinct ways of thinking. "I think it has to do with the difference between the man and the woman's point of view. Men tend to think, 'Let's get down to the solutions'. On the other hand, women want to dwell into the problems. They don't want solutions but they want to go deeper and find out what exactly the problem is," reveals Shifaali.
