The promos of Kalank have generated a tremendous amount of buzz. First the teaser, then the songs and now the trailer - the promos seem to have captured everyone's fancy. Varun Dhawan has been getting a lot of praise for his look in the promos. But did you know that the role which Varun has done was initially to be done by none other than the King Khan of Bollywood - Shah Rukh Khan!
Yes you heard that right! SRK was supposed to do the role which Varun has now done. But since the project was put on the back-burner for many years, it is now Varun who will be seen essaying that particular role in the film for which Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice. At the trailer launch event, when Varun was asked as to whether he was aware of this and whether he had approached SRK when he was signed for the role for any kind of guidance with respect to the approach towards the role, this is what Varun had to say:
"Honestly I never spoke to him how I should approach the role but I was obviously very aware that Shahrukh Sir and the other star cast that was supposed to do this film. At that time Karan was supposed to direct this film, Mr Yash Johar was producing it aur yeh bahut waqt beet gaya hai iss baat ko". Varun went on to share that he met Shahrukh recently and when Varun asked him as to how did he like the teaser of the film, SRK had some good things to say about the teaser and that he was quite happy. Varun also asked him as to how was he (Varun) looking with the 'soorma' look to which SRK smiled at Varun and said that it was good that Varun was working hard and doing these roles would get him closer to the audience.
