R Madhavan about Aap Jaisa Koi:

The talented actor R Madhavan is back in a romantic song with his upcoming movie, Aap Jaisa Koi. Directed by Vivek Soni, the film stars Maddy along with Fatima Sana Shaikh, who plays his leading lady. The film is a romantic drama featuring two people who fall in love before the arranged marriage, and the problem of equality spoils their bonding. In a recent conversation with the media, Maddy said that this film brings a sense of equality that is lacking in people today.

Shining a light on the same, the Shaitaan actor stated, "It happened to me once that, by mistake, during a speech, I referred to a girl as PYT, Pretty Young Thing. I didn’t mean to objectify her; it was something we used as a compliment back in school. But later, I realized that it actually came across as objectification. That sense of equality, I don’t think people truly understand it. And that’s exactly what we’re talking about in this film."

Recalling the first love of his life, he revealed, "I fell in love with my math teacher when I was 11 years old. She had beautiful hair, just like Fatima (in the film), and then math was never easy for me."

Speaking about the film, he added, "Aap Jaisa Koi isn’t like any love story I’ve been part of before. It’s quiet, tender, and unapologetically real. Shrirenu is one of the most layered characters I’ve had the chance to explore–someone who craves connection but struggles to express it. There’s a beautiful stillness in his chaos, and so much emotion simmering beneath the surface. This film doesn’t shout — it whispers. It lingers. And that’s what makes it so powerful. It’s for everyone who’s ever felt unseen or left behind and reminds us that no matter where we are in life, there’s always room for rediscovery, for vulnerability, for love. It’s never too late to begin again — on your own terms."
