Taking to social media, Sapthami shared a strongly worded statement highlighting a “recurring issue” faced by women in the film industry. She wrote, “As women in the film industry, we stand together in addressing a recurring issue.”
The actor pointed out that videos and photographs of female celebrities are often captured from inappropriate angles. “Repeatedly, videos and photographs of female actors at public events are shot and circulated from inappropriate angles, with unnecessary zooms that focus on our bodies rather than our work,” the statement read.
Calling out the practice, Sapthami described such behaviour as “disrespectful and unacceptable.” She emphasized that actors attend public events to represent their craft and cinema, not to be subjected to invasive camera work.

“We are here for our craft. We are here for our cinema,” she asserted, making her stance clear.
The Kantara star further condemned deliberate zoom-ins and objectionable framing, calling them “clear violations of dignity” that should not be normalized or tolerated. She also urged those covering events to maintain “professionalism, basic respect, and decency.”
Ending her note on a note of solidarity, Sapthami said women in the industry stand united in setting boundaries and supporting each other in demanding respect. Her statement has sparked fresh debate around paparazzi culture and the need for more ethical media coverage of female celebrities. Previously, many other actresses have also pointed out paps' degrading culture, but sadly, nothing has changed yet.
