Director Rohit Shetty, whose rib-tickling comedies have made audiences roll in the aisles with laughter since the past few years, now wants to turn his attentions to remaking old classics, it seems. The Singham fame director is a self confessed fan of filmmakers like Vijay Anand and Manmohan Desai and has expressed his desire to start working on a remake soon.
Confirming the news, Shetty was quoted saying, "Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to remake Jewel Thief and Amar Akbar Anthony. I have not acquired the rights of the films as of now, but when I am 100% ready to make these films, I will do the needful. I still live in the 70s era. The magic and innocence in those stories is still alive when you watch them today."
Shetty's next flick Bol Bachchan starring Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn is supposed to be loosely inspired from Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Gol Maal starring Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt, which was a laugh riot about a man who gets trapped in his own web of lies, with hilarious consequences.
