Rohit Shetty, who is releasing his upcoming directorial venture Singham Returns, this Independence Day, says that releasing a film on a holiday guarantees more footfalls.

At a recent event, when the director was asked if release dates are important he said, ''It is very important, holidays matter a lot. Holiday means more footfalls, so it is important to release it on a holiday. If the film is good it will obviously work but many people say that release dates are not important but if we talk practically they are very important.''

The film's lead pair- Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan also agree with their director. Kareena says, ''A good release date always helps a film, if there is a holiday people will flock to the theaters.''

Ajay adds, ''It is important. Many people block Diwali and Eid dates, two-three years in advance as they know that it is the right time for a film to do big business.''

While Shah Rukh Khan is known to release his films on Diwali, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan prefer to release their films on Eid and Christmas, respectively.
