For veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, the year gone by was landmark in a true sense. While former shone as an unrepentant villain in Agneepath, latter managed to score his biggest success as a central lead in OMG Oh My God!. Now the duo would be seen in a yet untitled film where they would be pitched opposite each other.
"They are not playing supporting actors in the film. Instead, they are the central protagonists. A comedy, it is centred entirely on their characterisation", informs our source, "While Rishi Kapoor plays a boisterous Punjabi, Paresh Rawal would be enacting the part of a meek Gujarati. They would be seen on warring ends."
The film would be directed by Sanjay Chhel who last release was Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose starrer Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam (2008)'.
"He had started well with Sanjay Dutt's Khoobsurat but Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa sunk without a trace and Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam was severely thrashed. However Chhel has come up with this promising subject that has made Rishi Kapoor as well as Paresh Rawal mighty excited", the source adds, "There must be something about the storyline that has made the two veteran actors say yes. Otherwise both are quite particular about what they do."
This can be evidenced from the fact that Rishi Kapoor is the busiest actor from his generation today, what with as many as seven films already lined up for release this year. These are Chashme Baddoor, Aurangzeb, D-Day, Kaanchi, Manish Sharma's yet untitled film, Nupur Asthana's yet untitled film and Besharam. On the other hand Paresh Rawal has become ultra choosy and is very cautious before picking anything.
On contacted, Rishi Kapoor confirmed the developments. "Work is still on the script but in principle I am on board", he said.
Incidentally, the last time when Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal had come together, it was for Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999) where former had directed latter. Now this yet untitled film would be arriving after a 15 year gap in 2014.
