When it rains, it pours - This adage could well be coming true for Rhea Chakraborty who, after being away from the Bollywood film scene for close to three years, is now back with as many as three releases in a span of four weeks.
"That's correct," comments an observer, "She can be seen in recent release Half Girlfriend. A couple of weeks down the line she would be visible in Dobaara. A week after that she should be making her presence felt as the only leading lady in the all-boys affair, Bank Chor."
Each of the three films not just belongs to different genre but also has Rhea in a significantly new avtar.
"In Half Girlfriend she has an extended cameo where she plays a matured New Yorker who thinks of beginning something special with the character played by Arjun Kapoor. Not just has she looked totally different from her earlier appearances <Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Sonali Cable>, she also has distinct gravitas to her part," the observer adds, "There is an element of mystery around what she does in Dobaara though, which is essentially a story about real life turned reel siblings Huma Qureshi and Saqib Salim. Incidentally, Rhea and Saqib were a couple in their Mere Dad Ki Maruti."
Incidentally, both Dobaara and Bank Chor are delayed releases. Former, a supernatural affair, has been ready for a while and was waiting for the right time to release. That seems to be 2nd June now. On the other hand Bank Chor is releasing almost two years after it was originally intended to. Had it seen a timely release, Rhea wouldn't have had such long gap since the release of Sonali Cable <2013>.
"Though she has smaller parts in Half Girlfriend and possibly even Dobaara, Bank Chor (which releases on 16th June) should give her much more prominence since she is the only female in there," our source chips in, "It may seem like Riteish Deshmukh is entirely driving the show as a Bank Chor and Vivek Oberoi is bringing on his cop act. However, Rhea is not a pushover in the scheme of affairs who just steps in as a glam element in the song-n-dance affairs. She has something substantial to bring in this comedy of errors."
Well, Rhea won't be minding that as long as she is back in the reckoning and finds attention from her industry folks.
