Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, who'll be seen playing Bikram and Bala in YRF's upcoming film Gunday, wanted to essay each other's role in the movie.

When the director of the film, Ali Abbas Zafar, gave the two actors a joint narration of the movie, without divulging who'll be essaying which character, Arjun and Ranveer preferred to play each other's role.

Reportedly, Ranveer wanted to play Bala, who is more flamboyant, boisterous and outspoken, much like Ranveer himself in real life. Bikram's character is slightly held back and he is in a sense like the angry young man. When Ali revealed to the actors who would be playing which character, Ranveer tried to reason with him that Bala is more like him and that the audiences would love him in that character. Ali however, was sure that he saw Bikram in Ranveer and vice-versa and he finally, convinced the duo to give it a shot and after a little conversation the two gave in to their director's vision.

Ali Abbas Zafar says, “It was obvious that both Ranveer and Arjun would want choose to do roles that were closest to their own personalities. We had to convince them to do the opposite role."

Gunday stars Priyanka Chopra as the female lead and is slated to release this Valentine's.
