Ramayana Will Be Lip-synced In Foreign Languages:

Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi's Ramayana is currently under production. They are on track to wrap up part one of the series and then immediately dive into Ramayana Part Two. The producer, Namit Malhotra, was present at the WAVES 2025 summit today, where he revealed that they are trying to localize the film in foreign languages and skip the traditional dubbing and subtitles format.

"We are making a story that I believe is meant from India for the world. So, to what you said, Aamir, it is about being authentic about our culture, our characters, and our stories. But we are garnishing it with the right mix of talent and technology. The way we want to go about it is to make it feel local to people around the world.

Again, with the use of technology, we're trying to ensure that we can localize the film in languages with performances, which means that it should play in English with lip-sync, without subtitles or dubbed versions. It should be in English. In Spain, it should be in Spanish. In Japan, it should be in Japanese," he said.

He further explained, "This is now possible because of technology. So we're trying to ensure that we take our stories, maintain the authenticity of the characters and the world we're portraying, but leverage that in a way that the rest of the world is not challenged by the expression. That's why, if you think about it, it’s only American films that travel worldwide.

"It's not like we're all watching French, Japanese, and other films because the language barrier has been a significant challenge for me. While great content will transcend it, in general, if you want to reach audiences en masse, it is a challenge. Language is a challenge," he concluded.
