Rajkummar Rao is playing an honest government clerk in his latest release Newton and while the actor is getting rave reviews for his performance in the social satire, he has yet another reason to grin from ear-to-ear.
The Film Federation Of India has unanimously selected Newton as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards, this year and it will compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
An elated Rajkummar shared the good news with his fans, writing, “Very happy to share this news that #NEWTON is India's official entry to the #OSCARS this year. Congratulations team.”
Directed by Amit Masurkar, Newton revolves around a government clerk, who is sent on election duty to a naxal-controlled town in the conflict-ridden jungles of Chhattisgarh. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Anjali Patil and Raghubir Yadav.
