Common link between Bhooth Bangla and Kantara:

Priyadarshan is directing Akshay Kumar in Bhooth Bangla, which he believes has a strange connection with Rishab Shetty's Kantara (2022). During a recent conversation with ETV Bharat, he mentioned that both films are based on fantasy and mythological beliefs. Here's how.

"It's Challenging" - Priyadarshan Gives an Update on Hera Pheri 3 with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty

He began by saying, "There are a lot of people in India who believe in it (black magic). I know in the deep South and North, black magic is a significant fear for people. When you present it in a hilarious film, I think it should work. I am extremely happy about Bhoot Bangla, and I am trying this for the first time."

Priyadarshan continued, "Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a psychological thriller; it was not a ghost film. But the later parts two and three became ghost films. I am trying to do something that is a fantasy; there is a lot of fantasy content working these days. There is so much mythology in our country. Look at Kantara, which is based on those beliefs. So it is rooted in one of the villagers' beliefs and how black magic works. It is a fantasy comedy."

Bhooth Bangla is currently being shot in India and stars Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The fantasy horror-comedy will be released in cinemas in April 2026.
