"Comedy is a difficult thing; it works for individuals" – Pratik Gandhi on Dhoom Dhaam
Actor Pratik Gandhi has teamed up with Yami Gautam for Dhoom Dhaam, which is releasing on Netflix. He shared his views on the comedy genre (Movie Talkies).
Pratik Gandhi portrays a newly married man in Dhoom Dhaam, directed by Rishab Seth. Actress Yami Gautam plays his wife, Koyal. The trailer shows Pratik playing a naive, vulnerable, and somewhat cowardly man who is chased by goons, while Koyal tries to save him. During a recent media conversation, Gandhi shared his thoughts about the genre of the film.
As we know, comedy is a difficult business, and Pratik Gandhi agrees. He said, "Comedy is difficult because it differs for everyone. A particular scene may work for one person, but it might not resonate with others. The communal viewing experience is different. For instance, I shot a scene, and we laughed, but I can't be sure that the audience will laugh at the same moment. So it's very difficult to understand what will work. As actors, we tried everything we could, now it's up to the film."
Pratik also praised co-star Yami's acting skills and professionalism. "Yami has such a great filmography. She has done work from which you can learn. For me, it was a wonderful experience working with her, or, for that matter, the entire team. We had that certain understanding about the scenes."
Talking about his role, Pratik Gandhi added, "Playing Veer was a refreshing experience for me. I loved portraying the role because he’s not your typical rom-com hero—he is relatable, vulnerable, and ends up in the most unexpected situations. Expect some serious laughs, chaos, and moments that’ll tug at your heartstrings."
