Kirti Kulhari on Pink:
Pink (2016), directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, is one of the major highlights of Kirti Kulhari's career. The film features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Vijay Varma, Angad Bedi, Tushar Pandey, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Piyush Mishra, and Mamata Shankar. Though it tells the story of three girls, Kirti feels that she was sidelined by the makers during the film's promotions, while the PR machinery worked for Taapsee Pannu.

During a chat with Fever FM, Kirti finally revealed these details. She said, “When Pink happened, for me, there was never a thought of who is big or small in terms of their status in the industry. I saw it as the story of three girls. That’s how I approached it. I came from a space where I believed, ‘We are all actors; we are all together.’ But Pink made me feel a lot of ‘big star-small star’ treatment. The people around you make you feel that way.”

“I noticed that the trailer was mainly filled with Taapsee and Mr. Bachchan. That was the first shock for me because I knew what I had contributed to the film. Shoojit was like, ‘Don’t worry about it; let the film come out.’ I never engage in PR. I believe my work will eventually be recognized,” she added.

She went on to say, "During the promotions, the PR machinery worked for Taapsee because, in terms of hierarchy, she came after Mr. Bachchan in that film. Eventually, it became her film, and she became the ‘Pink girl’ in terms of positioning. I saw that happening in front of me. This was the first shocker for me because I couldn’t understand it. My PR game was zero. It shook me."

Taking lessons from Pink, Kirti then ensured that she was given equal importance during "Mission Mangal" (2019). “I was very clear when I accepted Mission Mangal. I told them that apart from Vidya, if I am not given equal positioning as the other girls, I won’t do it. I learned the positioning game on the job,” the actress concluded.
