We had reported a few days back that actresses Sarah Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Sandhya Mridul, Amrit Maghera, Pavleen Gujral and Rajashi Deshpande will be seen sharing screen space with each other for what is being touted as India's first female buddy film titled Angry Indian Goddesses and that the film has been selected for the Toronto Film Festival.
Recently the poster of the film too was unveiled and we must say that the poster promises a quirky and entertaining fare. The poster features a close up of a feminine face with a bright red tongue, which has images of guitars, musical notes, bottles and other such things on it.
The film begins with Frieda (Sarah Jane Dias) inviting her closest girl friends to Goa to announce her wedding- catapulting into a wild bachelorette party. The girls ensue on an emotional roller coaster ride- unfolding their characters amidst fun, chaos and complications that follow, driving them to the edge as they transform into Angry Indian Goddesses.
Talking about his film, director Pan Nalin says, "Since many years, I've been longing to do a film with firebrand Indian women in lead roles, purely out of rebel spirit because shockingly 96 percent of women's roles in Bollywood are only for decoration! AIG being selected as a Special Presentation at TIFF has been a huge shot in the arm!"
Angry Indian Goddesses is slated to release in India this October.
