“No, PK 2 is not happening. I don't know where this news came from, but it is not happening. Raju and I are instead doing a different film. It is a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, which starts later this year,” he stated clearly, leaving no room for further rumours.

This announcement surprised many fans who were hoping to see the continuation of the beloved alien character that made PK a record-breaking success. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK became the first Bollywood film to cross ₹300 crore nett at the domestic box office. It was also the second consecutive record grosser from the Aamir-Hirani duo after 3 Idiots (2009), which became the first film to surpass ₹200 crore nett. The ending scene of PK hinted at a sequel with Ranbir Kapoor joining the aliens' world, but sadly it's not happening.

The pairing of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani has consistently delivered iconic cinema, and while PK 2 is officially off the table, their next project promises to be equally significant. The duo is now focused on a biopic of Indian cinema pioneer Dadasaheb Phalke, set to go on floors later this year. Fans may miss PK, but a cinematic tribute to the father of Indian cinema is certainly something to look forward to. But will it become a commercial juggernaut like 3 Idiots and PK?
