Both, Irrfan Khan and Pankaj Tripathi are alumni of the National School of Drama and Pankaj has admitted it several times that he embarked on his acting journey because of the massive impact that Irrfan had on him as an actor. The duo is now working together in Angrezi Medium.
Pankaj, who had been eagerly waiting for an opportunity to share screen space with Irrfan, finally got a chance to work with him in Angrezi Medium. Pankaj immediately gave his nod when he was offered the film, even though it was just a cameo appearance, because of his admiration for Irrfan.
Tripathi said, “I’ve always been inspired by Irrfan's performances as an actor. He has had a huge impact on my life, especially with his performances from Haasil, Maqbool, The Warrior and Pan Singh Tomar. My guru and also my senior from the National School of Drama, I have always wanted to impact audiences the way he does. His contribution has been greatly acknowledged in the Indian Cinema and my role in this film is almost like my ‘guru dakshina’ to him.”
“I don’t think there is anybody who wouldn’t look up to him. I always wanted to share the frame with him and being a hard-core follower of Irrfan, I have learnt so much from just watching him perform,” he further added.
Directed by Homi Adajania, Angrezi Medium also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Madana and will release on March 13.
