Omung Kumar, who made his debut as a director with Mary Kom, is quite enthusiastic about the release of his next film Sarbjit, but you would be shocked to know that Kumar had initially turned down the project!

Confirming the same, Kumar said in an interview, ''After making Mary Kom, I had no desire to make another biopic as I did not want to be known as a 'biopic director' and when this story came to me, I turned it down. However, on a whim, I decided to read the script and also about the case and I was floored by Dalbir Kaur's determination and grit following the arrest of her brother Sarabjit and I said to myself that I need to make this film, irrespective of what tags get attached to me.''

Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadha and others, Sarbjit is slated to release on May 20.
