O Romeo Box Office Day 1:

The Friday release, O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor, has taken a slow start at the box office. The film collected approximately ₹7.75 crore nett on its opening day (Friday). While the number is not disastrous, it is still considered low, especially for a film mounted on a high budget.

With this, O Romeo marks yet another single-digit opening for Shahid Kapoor in the post-pandemic era. His recent releases have also opened below expectations. Devaa had collected ₹5.50 crore on day one, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (TBMAUJ) opened at ₹6.75 crore, and Jersey had taken a very low start of ₹3.19 crore.

The film now needs a strong jump on Saturday and Sunday to stay in the race. However, that may not be easy. The genre of the film limits its mass appeal, and the India vs Pakistan cricket match on Sunday could further affect footfalls in theatres over the weekend.

O Romeo

For a film made on a big budget, a ₹7.75 crore opening is not ideal. If the growth over the weekend remains limited, the film could face trouble in recovering its costs. Much will depend on word of mouth and audience response in the coming days.

O Romeo

All eyes are now on the weekend collections to see whether O Romeo can show any major improvement. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the films stars Shahid Kapoor Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, and Triptii Dimri

In our review, we wrote:

"Many long films have justified their runtime with strong writing and gripping storytelling. But it becomes a serious problem when there simply isn’t enough material to sustain the narrative. O Romeo suffers exactly there. It is overlong, tedious, and painfully boring. By the time the interval arrives, you feel like you have already watched a full film. By the time it finally ends, it feels as though you’ve endured a second one. Logic repeatedly dies in Bhardwaj’s directorial venture. Characters who appear dead return with a dramatic expression labeled “Miracle!” A man survives a bullet shot right in the center of his neck. Really? Is this truly a Vishal Bhardwaj film, or has someone completely diluted his sensibilities? The screenplay leaves you questioning not just the characters but the filmmaker’s judgment."
