Mumbai the Happiest City in Asia:

Asia has a vibrant mix of cities, each offering its own rhythm of life. In a recent survey by Time Out, more than 18,000 city-dwellers across the region shared how happy they feel in their hometowns. And guess which city topped the list. It's Aamchi Mumbai! 

Topping the list is Mumbai in India, where an impressive 94% of locals said that their city brings them joy. Mumbai’s dynamic street-food scene, energetic entertainment industry and buzzing social life are among the factors highlighted. The real estate market and property rates in Mumbai are much bigger than any other city in India, yet it is always crowded and expanding.

Following Mumbai are China’s major hubs: Beijing and Shanghai. Beijing takes second place, and Shanghai third — more than 90% of residents in each say they feel happy in their city.

Southeast Asia also has strong showings. Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Hanoi (Vietnam) rank fourth and fifth. In these cities, locals say everyday life, green spaces and a sense of community contribute to their happiness. Other cities making the top ten are Jakarta (Indonesia) in sixth, Hong Kong seventh, Bangkok (Thailand) eighth, Singapore ninth and Seoul (South Korea) tenth.

These cities show how factors such as food and culture, social life and community spirit add to how happy people feel at home. It’s not just about big economic numbers, but also how people experience their city day-to-day.
