A source told Midday that Sinha has commenced shooting for the sequel, Mulk 2, with lead actress Taapsee Pannu. Whether the film will continue the story from Mulk or have a new look and new story is still unclear. The makers have kept major details under wraps.
Mulk was based on a Muslim family trying to get along in a Hindu nation and society as they are blamed for terrorism due to one of the family members. Written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film received mostly positive reviews but couldn't translate the praise into box office numbers. It’s not uncommon for Bollywood to make a sequel to a flop movie because some films become popular after their theatrical run is over.
