Born on September 17, 1970, in New Delhi, Mukul Dev hailed from a Punjabi family with a strong background in public service. His father, Hari Dev, was a decorated police officer who received the Gallantry Award for his bravery. Mukul was also a trained pilot from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi before venturing into acting.
He made his acting debut in the 1996 film Dastak, starring alongside Sushmita Sen. While the film garnered attention, Mukul's subsequent projects as a leading man did not achieve significant box office success. However, he found his niche in supporting roles, delivering notable performances in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, for which he received the 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting.
Mukul's versatility extended beyond Hindi cinema; he appeared in Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films, as well as various television serials and music albums.
