Actor Mukul Dev passed away:

Veteran Indian actor Mukul Dev, known for his versatile roles across Hindi and regional cinema, has passed away at the age of 54 on May 22, 2025.  His demise marks the end of a prolific career that spanned nearly three decades. We, at Movie Talkies, pray for his soul to rest in peace.

The actor passed away on Friday night, and his friends arrived at his residence on Saturday after learning of his demise. The exact cause of his death was not known at the time this report was filed. Further information, including an official statement from his family and friends, is still awaited.

Born on September 17, 1970, in New Delhi, Mukul Dev hailed from a Punjabi family with a strong background in public service. His father, Hari Dev, was a decorated police officer who received the Gallantry Award for his bravery. Mukul was also a trained pilot from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi before venturing into acting. 

He made his acting debut in the 1996 film Dastak, starring alongside Sushmita Sen.  While the film garnered attention, Mukul's subsequent projects as a leading man did not achieve significant box office success.  However, he found his niche in supporting roles, delivering notable performances in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, for which he received the 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting.

Mukul's versatility extended beyond Hindi cinema; he appeared in Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films, as well as various television serials and music albums.  He also hosted the first season of Fear Factor India and portrayed complex characters in web series like State of Siege: 26/11.

His brother, Rahul Dev, is also a prominent actor in the Indian film industry. Mukul's contributions to cinema and television have left an indelible mark, and he will be remembered for his dedication to the craft and his ability to bring diverse characters to life.
