Kraven The Hunter Review: Falls Prey to Poor Storytelling
Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel to The Lion King (2019), opened lower than its predecessor in India due to the Pushpa 2 factor. However, the film found its audience as the holiday season began with Christmas. The film showed a good trend throughout the week, and then the New Year holiday helped it cross the coveted 100 crore figure sooner than expected.
The Lion King (2019) collected 157 crore nett in India, and Barry Jenkins' Mufasa is heading toward a 130 crore nett+ total at the moment. Both movies are super hit and has made money for Disney in India. However, the hype for the sequel should have pushed the film to surpass its predecessor. That didn't happen mostly because of the pandemic's effect on cinema culture. The Lion King came in the pre-pandemic era, so the numbers were expected to be higher than those of the prequel.
Below are the collections of Mufasa: The Lion King in India (all languages):
First Week - 61.95 crore nett
Second Friday - 5.50 crore nett
Second Saturday - 8.50 crore nett
Second Sunday - 9.75 crore nett
Second Monday - 4.50 crore nett
Second Tuesday - 5 crore nett
Second Wednesday - 7 crore nett (New Year)
TOTAL - 102 crore nett approx.
