MNS to BLOCK release of Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal:

The Indian cinema industry decided to ban Pakistani actors and their films in India. Ten years ago, many Pakistani actors were active in Bollywood. Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Mawra Hocane had their Bollywood movies released back then. Following that, political parties demanded a ban on Pakistani actors and their films, which was approved by the minister.

Now, years later, Fawad Khan is making his comeback in Bollywood with the upcoming film Abir Gulaal, and predictably, Raj Thackeray's MNS party has come forward to ban its release. Amey Khopkar, the chief of MNS's cinema wing organization, has opposed the release of Abir Gulaal and challenged the makers to release the film in Maharashtra.

"We have been protesting against this film, as well as against Pakistani artists and Pakistani films. And we will continue to do so. No film featuring Pakistani artists will be released here. There is no need to release it. I just want to say, show the courage to release it. I challenge you to release it. In 2016, we had a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Raj Thackeray was also there," said Mr. Khopkar.

He then added, "Some of the producers' associations were also present. That’s when we decided to allow the release of the film that had been made earlier. After that, no Pakistani film or film about Pakistani artists would be produced here. The producers' association had written a letter to Devendra Fadnavis. Now, I challenge the makers of ‘Abir Gulaal’ to release the film here in Maharashtra."
